2009 Passion for Life 5K Run/Walk Inspiration

Our Inspirational Family for the 2009 Passion for Life 5K Run/Walk is the Penrod Family.  Joseph Penrod (6 ), a 1^st grader at Oakley Park Elementary and was recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in February of 2008.  All of the profits from the run/walk that are going towards U of M C. S. Mott Children's Hospital will go towards Muscular Dystrophy Research.   

Jeff Penrod (Father) is a teacher at Walled Lake Central High School and has taught in the Walled Lake School District for over 15 years.  Marissa (Mother), also a teacher, has recently devoted all of her time and efforts to fundraising and planning events that will benefit research and raise awareness for Duchenne MD.  Jeff and Marissa are actively involved in the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and also have two older children along with Joseph.

Our Inspirational Families receive $1,000 towards their son/daughter college fund/medical expenses/savings account/etc. and receive $500 every year that the race is running and able to provide such a financial support.
